WHAT IS THE BIGGEST FLAW MOST SPEAKERS HAVE? | PUBLIC SPEAKING | PRESENTATION SKILLS

What is the biggest flaw that holds back most public speakers? I think you will be surprised by my answer to this question. I work with thousands of speakers in a given year and collectively over the 33 years, way in excess of 10,000 speakers. Here is what i have found to be the biggest difference between those who make tremendous progress vs those who stay at one level.

The people who make progress have simply learned the ability to look at a video of themselves to see what is good and what they like so they can do more of it. The problem so many people have is that they can look at a video of themselves and may be doing 25 things well, but they fixate on one of two things they do not like such as saying too many ‘ums’ or bad looking hair.

Great speakers also pay attention to flaws but they are much more focused on their strengths and they build on them. Overtime, the strengths drown out the weaknesses.
