Magic of the Blank Slide for Your Next PowerPoint Presentation | Media Training | Public Speaking | Presentation Skills

PowerPoint tip of the day: when you are giving a PowerPoint presentation, my recommendation is this, start with a completely blank slide, preferably with black on it so that nothing is showing.

When you speak, you want people to realize that you are the expert and the authority and that you can speak to them directly. You need to show that the slides are simply an extra enhancement. You should talk for at least a minute before the first slide shows up.

You do not need your name or the title or the date or any of that stuff. With nothing on the very first slide, you will be able to establish your legitimacy and authority with the audience even before the presentation and the slides begin.
