I do not understand why people think they can get away with fabricating stories about their past in this day and age of Facebook, Google, and YouTube.
With a few simple clicks of a mouse someone can basically do a background check on you with material that is easily available online. The case of this Pennsylvania pastor is just another in a long list of religious leaders, coaches and business leaders who have gotten caught padding their resume in order to get a job.
PRESENTATION TIP: Whatever short term gain you think you are getting by lying to get a job or promotion is outweighed by the long term negative effects to your reputation once you are discovered. If you are a public or even semi-public figure these ramifications can last for years to come if the media covers the story in any way. Your name will be linked with these articles forever on Google when someone searches your name and is a sure fire reputation killer.
