YOU HAVE FALLEN INTO PIECES IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR PRESENTATION; WHAT DO YOU DO? | PUBLIC SPEAKING | PRESENTATION SKILLS

You are in the middle of your speech when it happens- everything simply falls apart. What do you do?

Maybe the slides have gotten stuck, maybe the text is gone, maybe the projector isn’t working, or people are leaving. The human tendency is to show the frustration on your face. Of course you should be human and not be robotic but showing your emotional frustration may just become the most memorable part of your presentation which is not great. So it is okay to be a little phony here.

You must also realize that your audience doesn’t really care about your slides or bullets, they care about you- the person who is giving them useful ideas. Now you can either meet those expectations or fall backwards. You can start over by saying memorable things. You may have to get rid of your canned speech and just talk to them about the ideas that you truly care about.

Instead of acting and feeling like a victim, focus on your audience and giving them good ideas.
