Why are so many political and business leaders around the world poor public speakers and why does it matter?
There are people such as Bill Gates who were able to become billionaires and famous celebrities despite being poor public speakers in the beginning. The thing is that they did not become famous because of their poor speaking skills but in spite of them. A lot of people are very successful even though they are dyslexic. Does that mean you would go out of your way to become dyslexic or have your child suffer through dyslexia? No! It makes it ten times harder to read and makes everything more difficult.
So yes, there are a lot of people who are not great public speakers yet are incredibly successful but there are also thousands and millions of those who are great speakers and are extremely successful as well. Take the examples of Steve Jobs, Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton who are all successful and great public speakers.
Industry after industry, if you look at those people who have the most influence, you will find that they are those who are great speakers. So why not aspire to that?
