Sound Bite Control: How to make the most of being quoted in a national story -Media Training

It doesn’t matter if you are interviewed by a reporter for 5 minutes or 50 minutes the goal you should have is to get as many quotes and sound bites into a story as possible.

You can enhance your reputation as an industry thought leader by providing the reporter with enough material that they do not need to seek out other sources in your field. Your reputation will be enhanced in the reporters eye as well as in the eyes of the viewers and readers who see you as the only expert being quoted in a particular story.

Media Training Insider’s Mike Bako was recently interviewed by Fox for his reaction to the media techniques of Taco Bell. See how many sound bites and quotes he got into this story: Taco Bell Threatens to Sue Law Firm That Brought Beef Suit
