Public Speaking Tip of the Day: Create YouTube Videos Regularly

If you want to become a much more accomplished and confident public speaker, here’s a very simple tip to follow. Give yourself a quota: it could be once a month, once a week or once a day. And then create simple talking head videos on a subject of your expertise and passion and post to YouTube on that schedule.

If you tell yourself you are going to do a weekly or daily YouTube video no matter what, it will happen. If you tell yourself you will do a video at some vague time in the future when everything is just right and you’ve tweaked a script perfectly, then you will never create a video for YouTube as long as you live, I promise you that.

In full disclosure, I’d love for you to hire me for a very expensive day of media and presentation training, but you don’t have to. Simply creating videos of yourself speaking and then watching it and posting it for the world to see is a tremendous learning experience. It’s almost impossible NOT to improve as a speaker, as long as you actually watch the video you have created.

As of today, YouTube has been around for 10 years. It’s not a fad. It’s not going away anymore than text or email is going away.

What are you waiting for? Today is the perfect day to start making YouTube videos of yourself speaking on your area of expertise or passion.
