How To Evaluate Whether a Workshop is Right for You
Media Training Workshops: How To Evaluate Whether a Workshop is Right for You
WHAT IS A MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOP?
The best learning experiences involve other people. When you used to study in your classroom, that is most likely your most memorable time. A group of people gathered to learn one thing can achieve a lot more than a single person learning alone.
Keeping these facts in mind, our media training experts host media training groups. Media Training Worldwide has conducted media training workshops all over the world.
Whether it is South or North America, Mexico, Europe, Gulf or Asia, including India and Thailand, we have served a huge number of people.
THE OBJECTIVES OF MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOPS
Media training workshops revolve around 2 basic objectives:
- Looking comfortable on the camera: We want you to look natural, comfortable, and good on camera. We take every step to help you gain the highest level of confidence.
- Packaging messages: Secondly, you should be able to package your thoughts into comprehensible messages. There should be a precise conclusion to your interview.
HOW LONG IS THE WORKSHOP?
Media training workshops are of variable lengths, depending upon the need of the prospects. After all, this is you who has to analyze the importance of media training for yourself and invest your time in it accordingly.
SHORT SESSION
Media training sessions can be as short as 30 minutes. However, we don’t call a 30-minutes session a workshop. It’s at most a short training rehearsal, coupled with a few tips.
Short sessions are no longer than 2-3 hours. This can be useful for seasoned media professionals who need a refresher, but short sessions are not recommended for most beginners.
HALF-DAY WORKSHOPS
A typical half-day media training workshop is at least 4 hours long, from 9 am to 1 pm, having some refreshment in the end.
FULL-DAY WORKSHOPS
Full-day workshops are 8 hours long and these are our most common sessions. We have all day to interview and record our clients and develop their media skills. Clients get up to a sozen chances to appear in front of the camera and exponentially grow during these sessions.
MULTIPLE SESSIONS WORKSHOPS
Media training workshops can also be 2 days or 1 work week. By the end of the week, our prospects become extremely competent in media communication. This is recommended for firms whose public impressions during a road show could make the difference of a successful IPO or not..
HOW WE BEGIN MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOPS?
We mostly go with these 2 agendas in our media training workshops.
GETTING YOU COMFORTABLE
Most of our media training workshops start at 9 AM. We recommend prospects to come in at 8:45. Most of the time, the room is filled at 8:40. As soon as our clients enter the room, we start interviewing them randomly. They are recorded secretly during the whole interview.
By 9 AM, we are done interviewing everyone and this is where we start criticizing the interviews. Everyone’s video is played and their colleagues provide constructive feedback. We always start by appreciating their strengths.
We ask the interviewer to share the positive aspects of his/her interview. We believe that you must be objective about yourself in order to make progress and improvement. If you cannot pinpoint your own strengths, you are not being objective about yourself. Sometimes we have clients who point out even 15-20 positive aspects out of their interviews.
After this, we inform them that they will be recorded while being interviewed once again. And the fun fact is, most people mess up this time because they are too nervous to act in front of the camera for the first time. Some people say that they were not expecting to be in front of the camera so early.
The reason people fail to look comfortable in front of the camera is that they try to act. Remember, you do not have to act to look comfortable in front of the camera. In fact, you must stop acting in front of the camera to look natural and relax. When our prospects have appeared 4-5 times in front of the camera after one session, there is a significant improvement in their media communication.
CRAFTING SOUNDBITES
After you have learned well to look comfortable in front of the camera, it is important to know what to say. Before that, we would like to introduce you to a terminology called soundbites.
WHAT ARE SOUNDBITES?
Soundbites are short extracts from a conversation between a reporter and an interviewee. The soundbites are the most interesting phrases and quotes that the interviewee states during the course of the interview .
WHY SOUNDBITES ARE IMPORTANT?
We have trained thousands of people in around 400 cities. We understand that every culture has different media trends. Every culture may have different speaking trends that are based on the norms of society.
However, there is one thing that remains constant in the media throughout the world. That is that reporter’s love to extract soundbites from your speech to convey a message concisely.
Whenever you are going into a media interview, ask yourself, “Have I crafted my soundbites? What are they? What is my message? Do I have a maximum of 3 messages for this interview?”
It is important to package your messages and practice your soundbites in your own camera. We do not want you to try your luck and speak soundbites accidentally. Everything you say must be meaningful, planned, concise, and positive.
MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOPS FOR SOCIAL MEDIA
To date, social media has become extraordinarily popular. Anyone can be a so-called SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERT. There are millions of people creating content for social media. The truth is that the competition has become so huge that you have little chance if you are not filming yourself in front of a camera.
When all your competitors are creating videos, you cannot hide behind the camera and just make Facebook posts, Instagram carousels, and tweets. Even If you are not someone who has to give TV interviews but are interested in social media training, then attending a virtual media training workshop is an excellent choice to help you make a better impression on camera.
IS THERE ANY MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOP NEAR ME?
There is no absolute answer to this question. Because it is not necessary to find a media training firm near you to get services from. We at Media Training Worldwide, travel almost EVERYWHERE to serve our clients. These are the two ways you can attend media training workshops:
VIRTUAL MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOPS
If you are interested in using your computer to attend media training workshops, you do not have to worry about where you live. You can hire a great company, like Media Training Worldwide, and attend our online media training workshops. This can be done through Skype, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams.
If you think that there will be a lack of involvement and participation in virtual media training workshops then you must attend our online media training sessions. You would feel that you are being trained in person. However, if you compare virtual and in-person media training workshops, of course, the latter is best for the sake of immersion.
IN-PERSON MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOPS
For the prospects living in the USA, it might be good news that they can easily find GREAT media training firms near them. However, people living in Europe, Asia, and Africa may think that they cannot avail services from US-based firms. The good news is, experts from Media Training Worldwide fly to every country to serve their clients.
If you are looking for expert-level training and a professional learning experience, the best decision is to hire a media trainer to fly to you and train your people.
HOW WE CONDUCT MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOPS IN OTHER COUNTRIES?
We take our portable studio, consisting of camera, microphone, tripod, and lights, to the city we are invited to. The only two things that client has to arrange are a television and a venue. The venue can be any suitable area that can be used for learning.
SHOULD I HIRE A LOCAL MEDIA TRAINING FIRM?
Hiring a local media training firm is never a bad idea. However, it is important to know about their experience. If they are making promises without showing you the EXACT RESULTS that they have produced, they are actually practicing on you. You do not want to be practiced on.
Therefore, it is recommended to find a media training firm that has a proven track record of successful media training. The best solution is to hire a better trainer to either Zoom with or fly to your location.
