Presentation Delivery: TJ Walker and History's Greatest Speakers Come Together--Bully Pulpits Review

What do you get if you take one of the word's best speaking experts and put him together with some of the greatest public speakers in history? The answer will be revealed this Monday (19th February, 2007) when Masterviews regular TJ Walker launches a new Internet TV show Bully Pulpits over at The Speaking Channel.

With the tantalizing by-line 'speaking secrets of world famous leaders', the daily show promises to delier short one to two minute bursts of insight into the techniques that make great speakers great. This focused platform gives TJ walker the opportunity to do what he does best - cutting through the quick of things and delivering practical, accesible advice that you can take away and use.

For while the show draws on figures from both the present day and the annals of history, this is not dry, text-book historical analysis. What you get is the one key peice of advice per episode, supported by those that best exemplify the focus of the show. In short you are looking at one minute of footage that makes one focused point, using on key speaker as an example.

This makes for a winning formulas. In the first five episodes, which I have previewed today, TJ Walker draws on an eclectiv mix of speakers to make points that are sure to be of interest to presentation and public speaking professionals.

Examples include insights into the power of effective body language and gesture through John F. Kennedy, and the importance of self deprecation and humour via Bono. In selecting from such diverse speakers, TJ Walker keeps the viewer on their toes, and it will be interesting to see who he comes up with in future episodes.

This is going to be a really useful resource for anyone that engages in public speaking, and the brevity of the format will make it easy to quickly transfer to your iPod in the morning, and tune-in whenever you have a free minutes (literally). It also serves as a great example of how well a single point can be made in a short space of time, which is a valubale lesson in and of itself.

Bully Pulpits begins this MOnday, 19th February with the JFK episode, and is well worth checking out.

You can also find out more about the show at The Speaking Channel homepage, which alos features a range of other audio and video resources for all kinds of speaking situations.
